The Way Home Project

Located in Town Green Park, The Way Home Veterans Memorial Monument is a permanent tribute to the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The memorial honors active duty service members and veterans, living or deceased, from every branch of the U.S. military and all conflicts. The memorial is located at 2099 Lake Robbins Drive along the east edge of the Great Lawn in Town Green Park.

A Lasting Tribute

The centerpiece of The Way Home was created by local sculptor Edd Hayes and features life size figures representing two young residents of The Woodlands area who gave their lives in service to their country: Army PFC Cory C. Kosters and Army CPL Zach R. Endsley.

Hayes, whose work can be found throughout The Woodlands, was selected to design and create the memorial’s centerpiece sculpture.

The Way Home and its Walk of Honor were officially dedicated on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015. The memorial serves as a place of remembrance, reflection and gratitude for those who have served our nation.

The Walk of Honor

Surrounding the monument is the Walk of Honor, where engraved black granite tiles recognize veterans and active duty service members.

More than 700 granite tiles have been engraved as part of the Walk of Honor, creating a permanent tribute to those who have served. The Walk of Honor was designed to provide families and friends with an opportunity to make their loved one a lasting part of the memorial.

Anyone may honor a family member or friend who has served or is currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces by purchasing an engraved granite memorial tile.

About The Way Home

The idea for The Way Home began with the Greater Woodlands Public Art Foundation, which was formed in 2011 by local residents interested in creating a veterans memorial in Montgomery County. The organization worked with The Woodlands Township and community partners to bring the memorial to Town Green Park.

In 2021, The Woodlands Township Board of Directors agreed to assume management of The Way Home and the Walk of Honor tile program. The transfer was formalized in 2022.

Today, The Way Home continues to provide a place where the community can remember and honor those who have served while preserving their stories for future generations.
