Firecracker 5K

Celebrate America 250 by lighting up The Woodlands Waterway with a unique one-time-only patriotic Firecracker 5K! The Firecracker 5K will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026 beginning at 7 p.m. along The Woodlands Waterway. The race is produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department and is a USA Track and Field (USATF) sanctioned event, with awards provided for overall male and female, as well as first, second and third place in both male and female age groups. The chip-timed 5K course winds throughout The Woodlands Waterway, providing a scenic route with a fun and enjoyable atmosphere fostering friendly competition. The 5K race is open to runners of all abilities and recommended for participants ages 10 and older. Runners are encouraged to dress in their best patriotic attire!

There will not be an Awards Ceremony, but awards will be distributed onsite. A photo area will be available for participants.

Registration fee of $50 includes participant t-shirt, finisher medal and participant packet. There will be no Race Day Registration. Only participants who have pre-registered and paid $10 for Race Day Packet Pickup will be allowed to pick up their packets on Race Day.

Refund Policy
100 percent of your entry fee will be refunded until June 11, 2026. Refunds will not include Active.com processing fee. Refunds can take up to 3 weeks for processing. Please email the department to request a refund.

Transfer Policy
Entry fees are nontransferable from year to year. Transfers must be completed by the deadline by logging into to your Active website account and selecting "My Events." All transfers must be completed by June 11, 2026. If you need assistance with transfers, please email the department.

Weather Cancellations
We have a "no refund policy" in regards to weather cancellations of any kind as well as changes to the race after registration. Unforeseen changes can occur at any time no matter how finalized anything seems to be. Any changes made to the race are done after careful consideration, usually due to safety concerns that arise after the race has been planned. We do everything we can to create a better, safer, more enjoyable experience for all participants.
